NOVEMBER is Diabetes Awareness Month!
You (or a loved one) could have diabetes and not even know it
It's important to know your risk for diabetes. Unfortunately, over six million Americans have
diabetes and don't even know it.
Your risk for diabetes goes up as you get older, gain too much weight, or if you do not stay active.
Diabetes is more common in African Americans, Latinos, American Indians, Asian Americans and Pacific
Islanders.
Risk factors for diabetes include:
- Having high blood pressure (at or above 130/80)
- Having a family history of diabetes
- Having diabetes during pregnancy or having a baby weighing more than nine pounds at birth
Take this quick and simple test from the American Diabetes Association to see if you are at risk for having diabetes.
Visit: http://www.diabetes.org/risktest to determine your RISK level.
If you cannot access the Internet site, open the attachment and do the screening on paper. Click here to view the screening on paper.
